“Laurie has spent over 35 years building bridges in our community - bridges that benefit our public schools, our small businesses, and our neighborhoods. He is invaluable on the City Council.”

It has been an honor to serve as your City Councilmember for the past four years. Thank you for the opportunity.
Berkeley is a unique and amazing city. Like you, I love Berkeley’s neighborhoods, its beautiful parks, vibrant shopping districts, exciting arts and culture, distinctive architecture – and most of all, the city’s residents whose imagination, energy and spirit have made “Berkeley” synonymous around the world as a place of hope and possibility.
For over 35 years, I have been blessed both to live and own a small business in North Berkeley. It’s where my wife and I have raised our two children – and now get to spend time with our baby granddaughter! Serving as your Councilmember has allowed me to give back some of that good fortune to our community, to help protect Berkeley’s character and unique values, while also preparing our city to face the challenges that lie ahead.
As your Councilmember, I have worked together with residents and businesses owners to successfully address a wide variety of issues, from reducing traffic congestion on Colusa and Solano to improved pedestrian safety around Thousand Oaks School to innovative programs that reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions and make Berkeley a “greener” place for all of us.
Together, we’ve accomplished a lot in the past four years. And I’m excited about what we can do in the next four years.
